MATLT Portfolio Introduction
Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire
~William Butler Yeats
Welcome!
In May of 2016, I earned my Master’s in Teaching and Learning with Technology to transform my instructional design skills to meet the burgeoning e-Learning and m-Learning opportunities for the special needs learner; specifically those affected by ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder).
This portfolio is a culmination of my five year journey in understanding cognition, instructional design, eLearning course development, integrating educational technology into the classroom, and acquiring the proficiency needed to be an online instructor.
I have been a consultant to parents, teachers and school districts for more than twenty years helping the special needs learner transition from private to public schools in their district. I have enjoyed every moment of working with this special group and cherish everything they have taught me. My work is a culmination of years of developing techniques to engage my clients in meaningful learning that begins subsequent to the completion of their initial Research Based Instruction of Early Intervention Therapies.
My desire to teach the ASD learner has been a driving force in the last twenty years of my life and will continue to shape my professional development and fuel my interest in lifelong learning.
